The District Council of Barunga West is a local government area in South Australia. The council covers an area at the north of Yorke Peninsula in the Mid North and includes the townships of Alford, Bute, Fishermans Bay, Kulpara, Melton, Mundoora, Port Broughton, Tickera and Wokurna.

The council takes its name from the Barunga Range in the eastern part of the council area.

The main industries are tourism and growing grain.
