NH 48 NH 50

National Highway 49 (or NH 49) is National Highway in southern India. It traverses coast-to-coast linking Cochin in Kerala with Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu. It crosses the famous Pamban Bridge before crossing into Rameshwaram island. The total length runs up to 440 km (270 mi).[1]

NH 49 starts from the junction of NH 47 at Kundannoor near Kochi and terminates at Rameswaram

Kerala: Cochin, Thripunithura, Thiruvankulam, Puthencruz, Kolenchery, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, Neriamangalam, Adimali, Munnar, Devikulam and Poopara

Tamil Nadu: Bodinayakkanur, Theni, Andipatti, Usilampatti, Madurai, Tiruppuvanam, Manamadurai, Partibamiyur, Paramakudi,Sathirakudi Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Pamban, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi.

As part of the effort to rationalize the numbering of the National Highways, this highway had been re-numbered to NH 85
