Kolenchery

Kolenchery is a steadily growing town located on National Highway 49 (NH49), 27 km east of Cochin city in Ernakulam district of Kerala State, "South India".

It is very famous for M.O.S.C Medical College in the town.this Medical College serves the needs of thousands who are near to Kolenchery and those from Idukki district also refers this Medical College Hospital as it is the premiere Hospital in the area. The Medical college belongs to Malankara Orthodox Church.

Kolenchery was just a hamlet with church, handful of schools and cinema theatre five decades ago. It was known outside as the home of contractors and real estate owners. It is absolutely diverse now; Kolenchery is among few of those towns in Kerala, which has made great leap of progress during the near past, whether it is the case of industries, educational institutions or any other concern.

Kolenchery and Puthencruz of Aikkaranad Panchayath are at the verge of extreme developments in real estate and infrastructure due to the town's location which is approximately 23km from Edachira, Kakkanad a suburb of Kochi City, where the smartcity, an IT infrastructure system which is soon to start by Dubai based Teacom company. Also Kochi Refineries is near to Kolenchery at 12km. This makes the town nearing to Industrialization.
Thrippunithura, a satellite town of Kochi City is 17km southwest of Kolenchery.

Also Kolenchery is between Muvattupuzha and Ernakulam on busy NH49 Kundannoor- Madurai Highway. Also Kolenchery is easily approachable from Kottayam via Piravom.Perumbavoor is 18 km north east of Kolenchery town and it is the headquarters of Kunnathunadu Taluka.

Culture

Kolenchery and nearby panchayaths are Agrarian basically.now a days most people finds a job in Kochi City as it is near. People mostly are Hindus and Syrian Christians.

Kolanchery is in the middle of many small towns like Piravom, Koothattukulam, Thiruvankulam, Puthencruz, Perumbavoor etc.

Nearest Airport: Cochin International Airport – 30km.

Nearest Railway Station: Aluva – 22 km.

Bus station: Kolenchery Bus Stand,KSRTC stops at Medical College and St.Peters College.

Nearest Big Town: Muvattupuzha - 13 km north east.

Nearest River: Muvattupuzha River which is flowing through Peruvammoozhi 4km east of the town.

The town is most famous for excellent educational institutions and the most noted ones are MOSC Medical College Hospital, St.peters College, Kolenchery and St Peters School, Kadayiruppu [GOVT.HSS,KADAYIRIPPU] , GTEC Computer Education (Opposit PMP Theater)the Kerala's no.1 computer education network.
