Dagur (clan)

Dagar (Hindi: डागर) or Digrana (Hindi: डीगराणा) is a clan or gotra of Jats , Yaduvanshi Ahirs and Lohars [1][2] found in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in India.

In the Brij area Jadecha and Yadubhan were two brothers in Yaduvansh. Jadecha established his kingdom in Kathiawar and joined Rajputs. Yadubhan moved to the Himalayas and established his kingdom near Himalayas. The hills in the area of Yadubhan were known as 'Dang'. The hill series were known as 'Yadu ki Dang'. On the basis of their habitation in Dang, the Jat kshatriyas of this region are known as Daga, Dagar and Digrana.Yaduvanshi Ahirs and Dagar Jats are classified as Chandravanshi.

Salpur, Nangal, Pidaulia, Pudana, Daryapur villages in Aligarh district of the Brij region near Tappal are of Dagur Jats.They are the follower of Lord Shiva and Krishna.

Mukhram Singh founded the village ‘Dagur Nagla’ near Mursan. Jalalpur, Sifaida, Didar, Nistauli villages near Sahdara Delhi; Chipiana near Ghaziabad, Dhatir near Palwal, Samaspur Khalsa, Nadadhoo, Malikpur, Dhasa, Ujawa, Issapur, Jhadauda, Kabulpur, Jaundhi, Sarakhpur, Prahladpur villages in Haryana; Khareta, Sherpur, etc. 24 villages are of Jats.

In Delhi, Dagar Jats hold a prominent position. There is a temple of Dada Budha in village Dhansa, which is considered to be there from the time of Mahabharata, Dagar Jats worship Dada as there Ancestral Devta.

Chainpura, Gagvana, Atali, Tola, Nahsal, Dharsauni, Nyamatpur, Hatizer, villages in Bharatpur district; Bharkaul, Khetri etc. villages in Agra district are of Jats.

Dagurs of Amipura village in Bijnor are called Digrana. Dagurs of Khadana, Badhpura, Khallaur villages in Bulandshahr are known as Dongri.Jats in Khadana village are called Dengri/dingri.
