Distribution

Chhokar Jat are seen as Jatts in the Punjab region There are some Chhokar Rajput villages in Palwal District of Haryana as well. Chhokar Rajputs claim descent to Jadaun Raja of Karauli. Jagas have a historical record about their migration from Karauli. There are 51 villages of chhokars who belong to the Sikh Jatt clan. Those are from various parts of Punjab such as "Pasla" a district of JLD, and "DUMNA" in the district of Ropar,village Garhi Ajit Singh, poonian,mazari,chhokaran,maderan,nawanshahar distt. shahid bhagat Singh Nagar Punjab. The majority of Chhokars are Jatt and the original village being chhokaran

Famous Chhokar

Baldev Singh Dumna, the first Defense Minister of India, was Chhokar. Baldev Singh was involved in securing India's independence from the British Raj. He died in 1961.

Ch. Yashpal Singh Chokkar, the former Agriculture Minister of India in Rajeev Gandhi Govt., was Chhokar.He was M.P. from Saharanpur parliamentary seat.

Chet Singh Chhokar was a doctor in the British Army who fought in World War I who was awarded many medals for his bravery in the war including

Member of British Empire and George Cross Medal of those times. He often used Chet Singh not Chet Singh Chhokar as his last name.

Ch. Susheel Chaudhary, the former M.L.A. of Nakur Constituency seat. Dist.-Saharanpur from Indian National Congress, was a Gujjar Chhokar.

Ch. Bharat Singh Chokkar, is a famous political leader and former M.L.A. from Samalkha Dist-Panipat, was a Gujjar Chhokar.

Ravi Inder Singh Dumna was prominently involved in Punjab politics. He is the nephew of Baldev Singh.
