Karwasra or Karwasra or Kadwasra (
Hindi :कड़वासरा/कडवासरा)is agotra of Jats found inRajasthan ,Haryana and Punjab states inIndia .History
They belong to the
Dahiya ancient Clan. This gotra gets name from their most prominent ruler Karhwasra Rao. A rockinscription inscribed by his grandson was found in village Mangalata in district ofMaroth inJodhpur princely state , in which they have been called as Dahiyas. It was inscribed in1215 AD and has been referred to in the book 'Indians in the Cauvery' on pages 87 and 88.Karwasra gotra came from 'Dahiya ' gotra usually found inRajasthan ,Haryana andUttar Pradesh inIndia . They are solar racekshatriyas . They are descendants of Dadhichi Rishi. According toJames Tod Karwasras ( as Dahiyas ) had a war withAlexander the Great . At that time they were settled on the banks ofSindhu andSutlej rivers.This is a major branch ofPuru . The Dahiya clan took part in theMahabharata . At that time they were living in the Southern part ofChina . According toTodd 's Rajasthan (based upon the writings ofJustin andHerodotus ), thousands of years before Christ, the Dahiya Mahajati tribe lived on the eastern bank of the RiverSihun (Oxus ). inscription dated26 April 1215 , in the temple of Kevay Goddess, at village Kinsaria nearJodhpur made by Jayant Singh son of Param Singh Dahiya and grandson of Mahamandaleshwar Rana Karhwa Rao Dahiya at village Salana near Bharaut in Jodhpur state. The descendants of Rana Karhwa Rao are known asKarwasra .Karwasra's main villages are ramsra,deengarh.DEENGARH is the village from which a large number of people,get educated and relatively upgraded themselves in the society likewise..ch.hardyal ram,dr.rajendera,kamal singh karwasra,abhimanyu karwasra and many more.
Distribution
In
Ferozpur region of Punjab, there are many villages where you can find Karwasra as the dominant clan. One of the examples isRamsara (a village 10 km fromAbohar ). Here you can find around 100 families of karwasras.In Rajasthan they live in DisttSikar ,Churu ,Nagaur ,Jhunjhunu ,Barmer ,Jodhpur ,Hanumangarh ,Jaipur andBikaner . In the region ofGanganagar , there are many villages dominated by Karwasras.References
