Ahlawat

Ahlawat

Ahlawat ( _hi. (अहलावत) is a clan or gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in India. Two branches of Ahlawat Solankis were rulers in south India. Pulakesi I of this clan founded the Vatapi (Badami) kingdom between the Godavari and Krishna rivers. This branch ruled until 753. The second branch of this clan founded rule at Kalyani near Warangal in the northeast of Vatapi in 937. They ruled until 1190.

Origin

The word "Ahlawat" is derived from "Illa-Vrta". According to mythology, Illa-Vrta was a province in Jambudvipa. The word Illa-Vrta changed to Alawat and finally Ahlawat. Ahlawats in Central Asia

The historian Dalip Singh Ahlawat has indicated the habitations of Ahlawats in North-west region of India and as Alans in Central Asia. The Alans or Alani were an Iranian nomadic group. [Cap. Dalip Singh Ahlawat: Jat Viron ka Itihas (Hindi)]
Ammianus Marcellinus considered the Alans to be the former Massagetae : "iuxtaque Massagetae Halani et Sargetae", "per Albanos et Massagetas, quos Alanos nunc appellamus", "Halanos pervenit, veteres Massagetas". Jat historian Bhim Singh Dahiya theorises that Ahlawats in Russia are known as Allans. [Bhim Singh Dahiya: Jats the Ancient Rulers]

In Jangladesh and Haryana

After their down fall in south India they migrated to north India and settled at Dadheda village in Jangladesh. They further moved to Kalabadala place in the Bhiwani district of Haryana. After some time they moved to Seria village of Jhajjar district and cleared the forests of this place for cultivation. [ Jat Samaj: Agra, February 1992]

Chaudhary Deegh Ram founded another village Dighal. There are 26 villages of this gotra. Ohlan, Pehlan, Brahman, Joon and Made are derivatives of Ahlawats. [ Jat Samaj: Agra, February 1992]
