According to Baloch epics, Khoso means brave or "The Warrior". Different books have written it differently but all agree that "Khoso" means "The Warrior". According to Baloch history, Khoso was the grandson of Hooth.

The Khoso is one of forty tribes of Baloch which have survived since the 11th century. According to Baloch historians, the tribes have merged into one another and only a few survived to live with their own identity. The Khoso tribe name is found in many poems (11th and 12th century) of Baloch epic.

Distribution

The tribe have settled in the Jafarabad and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan province. They have also settled in Sindh and Punjab provinces of Pakistan. The Khosa tribe is settled in the Dera Ghazi Khan district in Punjab and parts of Sindh, Jacobabad, Sukkur (Sindh), Shahdadkot, and Dadu. Zulfiqar Ali Khosa is the chief of the Khosa tribe. This tribe is also setteld in Iran, Balochistan, in Bao Dhashtyari, and in some places of Karachi, Malir District.
