It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 5, 1972.[1] It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in July 1958.[2]
History
The Chester County Courthouse was built in 1846 at a cost of $55,346 and was designed by Thomas U. Walter. [3] Walter also designed the dome of the United States Capitol. A 50 by 135 feet (15 × 41 m) addition, designed by T. Roney Williamson and constructed from Indiana Limestone, was added in 1893. Another addition was added in 1966.
