Manapparai (Tamil: மணப்பாறை) is a town and a municipality in Tiruchirappalli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Manapparai is the headquarters of the Manapparai Taluk

Demographics

As of 2001^[update] India census,^[1] Manapparai had a population of 35,644. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. In Manapparai, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Manapparai is famous for its Murukku and cattle market.

Politics

Manaparai is now a Legislative Assembly Constituency headquarters, part of the Karur Lok Sabha constituency. Previously it was part of the Kulithalai Assembly Constituency.

This temple is one of the famous temples in Trichirappalli District, and the oldest at nearly 200 years. The festival of the temple, called "Chitthiraithiruvila" is conducted during May. In this festival, around 15,000 devotees carry a milk pot almost 2 km on foot to the temple.
