Tiruvidaimarudur Conservation Reserve is a protected nesting area in the 2.84 Ha. compound of the Mahalingha Swamy Siva temple [http://www.indiantemples.com/Tamilnadu/mahatiru.html] in Tiruvidaimarudur village, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, South India. It was decalared Feb 14, 2005 and is the first Conservation Reserve to be established in the Country.
Over 400 Little Egrets, Pond heron and Painted Stork nest in this grove of 20 huge, century old Maruthu, Mahwa, Neem and Illuppai trees and feed in a the many agricultural fields, a few ponds and the Tamiraparani River adjacent to it. The reserve is 10 km. from Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve.
