Vellore District ,Tamil Nadu ,India . The town has mainly small scale industries and mills. Tirupattur can be best described as aSatellite town , in which people reside and go to work in nearby industrial towns such as Vaniyambadi and Ambur in the north. It is improper to describe it as satellite town and it is a commercial center from time immemorial whereas Vaniyambadi and Ambur which were once smaller towns than the former, flourished and populated in the recent past by the environment-polluting tanneries. It was a revenue sub-division during British raj and remains so. It has Old Shiva,Vishnu temples and Tanks built during Hoysala Dyanasty. It is well connected by road and rail to other important cities ofTamil Nadu such asChennai and Salem, andVellore andBangalore inKarnataka .This town is also famous in Islamic religious circles as many great saints "awliyas" had made it their home town some of them are burried at various places in the town to name a few: Hazrath Syed Sha Mohammed (alais)Syed Khawja Meeran Hussaini Jaffari, Hazrath Syed ShaAmeenuddin Hussaini Chisty ur Kahdri(who is better known as Munshi Hazrath)he was the last among a series of saints who have lived and have been burried at Tirupattur. Munshi Hazrath's son Janab Syed Sha Nayeem Hussaini Chisty ul Khadri (better known in and around the town as Nayeem Hazrath) still resides in the town and is carrying forward the traditon of his froefathers , he is also a great religious scholar and a very famous exhorcist, many people who are either possessed or under the influence of evil sprits visit him to get themselves freed of such sprits.
