Geography

Mukthapuram is located at 15°17′24″N 78°58′00″E / 15.2900°N 78.9667°E / 15.2900; 78.9667.[1] It has an average elevation of 253 meters (833 feet).

Mukthapuram is a small village located on the main road from Giddaluru to Komarolu. It is 11 km from Giddalur and 5 km from Komarolu. This region is near to the famous Nallamala forests. There is a plan to add a new veligonda canal in future near this village.

Demographics

As of 2010 India census[2], Mukthapuram has a population of 771. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mukthapuram has an average literacy rate of 50%.

  • Mukthapuram is connected by road from almost all the parts of the state. There are direct buses to Giddalur, Komarolu, Ongole, Hyderabad. Nearest bus depot is Giddaluru, which is well connected to major cities like Ongole, Chennai, Bangalore, Tirupathi, Cuddapah, Nandyal, Kurnool. Komarole has direct buses to places like Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole, Srisailam, Cuddapah, Bangalore, Proddatur.
  • Giddalur is the nearest railway station and it is connected by rail to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Howrah, Goa, Anantapur, Vijayawada, Bhuvaneshwar, Vishakapatnam and Hubli. The nearest regional airport is Cuddapah [3 hour drive] and international airport is Hyderabad [7-8 hour drive].
