Pamur is a census town in Prakasam district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Pamur had a population of 15,178. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Pamur has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 51%. In Pamur, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. Presently the president of Pamur is Y. Anuradha (congress) 2006-2011. In pamur the education system was developed. Transport

Pamur is located at a distance of 100km from Ongole, 120km from Nellore and 260km from Vijawada.The nearest railway station is within Singaraya Konda, 70km away. However, most trains stop at Ongole.Pamur is well connected by road to rest of Andhra Pradesh and Chennai, Banglore of Tamil, Nadu and Karnataka.Buses are available to Nellore, Ongole, Kandukur, Udaiagiri, Kavali, Markapur, Produtur and cities like Kadapa, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Ajamundry. Surveys are conducted for railway routes leading to this area.

Malakonda Swami Temple

Malakonda Swami Temple is the temple of Sri Laxmi Narashima Swami, 25 kilometers from Pamuru and located in the Malakonda village. The temple opens only on Saturday and worshipers come from the surrounding area.

Located in the drought zone, Pamur's water supply is inadequate, as the water in the area contains fluorine. Due to this, consumption of the water causes fluorosis, a disease which affects bones. Residents must buy bottled water, and many are demanding water to be transported to Pamur from the reservoir of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
