General

Miryalaguda, also pronounced as Miryalguda or Mirialguda, (population: approx. 2 Lacs in 2007) is one of the most highly industrialized and rapidly developing town in the state of Andra Pradesh, India. It is a key commercial center in the region of Telangana.

Miryalguda is famous for the paddy growth and it is listed among the top 5 paddy markets in Andhra Pradesh. The new agriculture market yard under construction is the biggest in whole Andhra Pradesh, with a total land of 45 acres. The Left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar makes Miryalguda and its surroundings green and commercially rich. The town is quite famous for its large number of rice mills in state and country.

The young town has been promoted as Municipality in the year 1985, youngest in the district and is competing with district capital Nalgonda. The population has been grown very rapidly due to industrialization and its convenient location between coastal Andhra and Telangana. Also the nearest town to the river Krishna and the only town in the district provided with safe, saturated and well organized drinking water supply. The town reflects both ancient traditions and carrying culture of Telangana at the same time with new generation innovative activities.

The town gradually changing its infrastructure by construction of new municipal offices, shopping complexes, apartments and other important commercial establishments. The State highway opened in the year 1994 poured great opportunities to the town in terms of accessibility and exposure. It has become the most rushy town in the district as a result of new settlers and rapid expansion of its area. The land rates in the surroundings have gone up by 10 times with in 4 years and new colonies are started forming and merged in the town. It is expected to be the biggest and crowd est town in the district by next census count in the year 2012.

Geographically located at 16°52'19"N 79°33'46"E. It is around 140km from Hyderabad.

Transportation

Miryalguda is connected to most cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh by the state road transport corporation (APSRTC).Miryalguda is 140km from Hyderabad, 126km from Guntur and 150km from Vijayawada. It is connected by both rail and road.The town is connected through 3 main roads, one towards Nalgonda (the district headquarters), one towards Guntur and Vijayawada and the other one towards Nagarjuna Sagar.170 km from Warangal.

Industries

Miryalguda Town developed after construction of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. Growth of Miryalguda is fueled by the good irrigation facility for cultivation, which has also helped the growth of industries. The cost of living of Miryalguda is increasing day by day. More than 70 rice mills are situated around Miryalguda. People from various villages are living around Miryalaguda, and doing rice related businesses there. The rice of Miryalguda is very famous in India. From here the rice is supplied to Major states of the country viz..Ker ala,Karnataka,Tamil nadu,Bihar etc and to other states.

It has a large number of Parboiled Modern Rice mills, (and this is the highest number in Asia). This town itself supplies 15% rice in the state to Food Corporation Of India. F.C.I. is one of the biggest storage house of polished rice as well as parboiled rice in the country. Other factories such as solvent oil mills, PVC pipes, and many Stone and Polishing Mills are also set up here.Major industries in Miryalguda mandal include:

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Miryalguda had a population of 90,247. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Miryalguda has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 61%. In Miryalguda, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
