Chilakaluripeta (Telugu: చిలకలూరిపేట) is a Grade 1 town and a municipality 15 miles south-west of Guntur City in Guntur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The GT road has a stretch of nearly 4 km in the town. It is a good commercial and educational centre.

History
Chilakaluripeta called as "chilakala thota, Rajagari Kota and Purushothama patnam", a big outskirts village of Chilakaluripeta has a great history. The British’s called this town “Chick pet”. Due to the orchards, a number of parrots used to come here and live on the trees. So that this place was once called “Chilakaluri” in the time of the Chilakaluripeta jameendars. It is widely believed that Chilakaluripet got its name from a grass called "Chilka". one can notice this grass even today in the surroundings of Chilakaluripet. Big fields of this grass were also called as "Chilaka thotalu"
There was a ‘fort’ here. It was called ‘peddakota’ in the past. The successor of the jamindari family Mr.Rajamasuri venkata ragahvendrarao is still living in the Peddakota. These jamindars were always liberal with the people. They prevented the people from not paying much taxes to the government.When the decoits namely ‘Pindaries’ attacked chilakaluripet they were driven out by hteable administration of jamaindars. In 1818, jamindars printed their own gold coins with the symbol ‘pagoda’. They have got ‘best administrative award’ from the British in revenue affairs. They used to import horses with fine quality to foreign countries. In 1846, all kindly people were allowed to live in chilakaluripadu.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Chilakaluripet had a population of above 1,10,000. But, as of 2009 the population is estimated to be around 2,00,000. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Chilakaluripet has an average literacy rate of 69%, highier than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 68% and female literacy of 50%. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Chilakaluripet has many small to medium scale industries. It has many cotton and spinning mills. They provide employment to a large number of people. It is also famous for its jeep building industry. It has many Hotels and Restaurants.
Religion
Hinduism is the most widely followed religion.islam and Christianity is also followed by many. All the major festivals like sankranthi, maha shivratri, sri ramanavami, Diwali, Ramzan and Bakrid and Christmas are celebrated with great joy. Sri Ramanavami is celebrated three days with very pomp across the town in the month of March-April every year. Lakhs of people gather in the town for this festival celebrations from surrounded villages.
Sport
cricket is the most popular game watched and played in chilakaluripet. Other sports like badminton,volley ball and kabaddi are also played.Traditional sports like bull racings are organised during the sankranthi period.
Social sector

AMG is providing services to the poor, needy and destitute people, without any discrimination of caste, creed, or religion, in many areas of need, with special emphasis on Health and Education.[2]
Transportation
Transportation in Chilakaluripeta consist of buses . Buses are connected to all the major cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh. APSRTC operates several buses to the state capital every day. The nearest railway stations are Guntur and Narasaraopet, about 35 km and 20 km,and also chirala respectively, from Chilakaluripet. The nearest airport is in Gannavaram, Vijayawada which is about 85 km from Chilakaluripet. If this town would have railway station it will become a busiest city after guntur around the district, one of the rapidly improving cities around the state also. Because , daily somany jobholders and students are gng to such a long distence like banglore(685 km), chennai(365 km), hyderabad(300 km), vishakapatanam{VIZAG-485 km} trough buses only..
