Clapham High Street railway station is on the South London Line from London Victoria to London Bridge.
It is close to Clapham North station and interchange between the two is counted as an Out of Station Interchange (OSI) on Oyster, so journeys involving a change between the two are charged as through journeys and not two separate journeys.[3]
It is operated by Southern trains. The next stations are Wandsworth Road to the west, towards Victoria and Denmark Hill to the east, towards London Bridge. Trains also run east to Brixton, but no trains stop at both Clapham High Street and Brixton (apart from occasional diversions).
The station is unmanned.

History
It was opened on 25 August 1862 by the London Chatham and Dover Railway as "Clapham and North Stockwell" with platforms on "Chatham lines" only. The London Brighton and South Coast Railway built and opened the present station and platforms on 1 May 1867. The line between Victoria and London Bridge was electrified at 750 volts overhead system on 1 December 1909. The London, Chatham and Dover Railway platforms were closed on 3 April 1916 and subsequently demolished. The line was re-electrified in 1928 using third rail electrified and the overhead system was dismantled. In 1989 the station was renamed from Clapham to Clapham High Street because travellers from Victoria Station were confusing the name with that of Clapham Junction.

The station is to be incorporated into London Overground through the newly extended East London Line, under phase 2. Mayor Boris Johnson announced the go-ahead for the extension on 16 February 2009. The new London Overground service is expected to be open in October 2012, connecting Clapham Junction with Highbury & Islington, replacing the existing South London Line service.
These changes mean that Clapham High Street will lose its direct services to both London Bridge and London Victoria. Lobbying is currently underway to run 2 of these ELLX trains to Victoria weekdays at peak-times, or to insert calls both here and at Wandsworth Road for South Eastern Trains services from Victoria to the Medway Towns which currently pass through the station but do not stop.
Parliamentary Train - From December 2011
Clapham High Street will also, from December 2011, be the starting point for the 'Parliamentary Train' currently operating once-a-weekday between Wandsworth Road and Kensington Olympia. Work is ongoing to see if from May 2012 the service would run fully to and from Clapham High Street.
