The present basic station was built in the 1980s when passenger operation was restored to the North London Line.
Future
Homerton is a station on the proposed
Chelsea-Hackney line project (a proposedLondon Underground line). It would be located between Hackney Central and Leytonstone. The platforms will be underground under the existing London Overground track with a connection to the London Overground platforms.ervices
The typical service at the station is 4 trains per hour westbound to Richmond via Hackney, Highbury, Camden Town and Willesden, and 4 trains per hour eastbound to Stratford. An additional shuttle train running between Camden Road and Stratford in the morning and evening peaks increases this number to 5-6 trains per hour in each direction.
