Brixton town centre ,South London , on the line between London Victoria and Orpington. Trains are operated by Southeastern. The normal service is one train every 15 minutes in both directions. It is located about 100m fromBrixton tube station .To get from Brixton tube station to the main-line station, turn right out of the tube and then take the first main road on the right. The station is above ground level - for Victoria take the stairs in the pavement, for
Orpington go into the tunnel and past the ticket office. The
South London Line passes above the platforms, but there are no platforms on that line. Trains stopped at nearbyEast Brixton railway station until it closed in 1976. The South London Line is due to become part ofLondon Overground , although the proposal has attracted criticism, as the route will cross over both Brixton railway station and Loughborough Junction stations [cite web

This would then create an orbital network aroundCentral London , fulfilling theOrbirail concept. This extension is currently unfunded and is at the proposal stage; as it would also involve the withdrawal of the current
South London Line service between Victoria to London Bridge via Denmark Hill there is the suggestion that this extension could be funded as preliminary works for theThameslink Programme [cite web
