It is inTravelcard Zone 4 , and the station and all trains are operated by Southern.The main building on the down side replaced an original building which was on the up platform. There are two shelters on the Up platform. There is a bridge connecting the two platforms. Four lines run through the station, the central pair being the Up and Down through lines. The station stands off Anerley Road (A214).
History
The station was opened originally as Annerley by the
London and Croydon Railway , which amalgamated with theLondon & Brighton Railway to form theLondon, Brighton and South Coast Railway . During the Grouping of 1923 it became part of the Southern Railway, and then passed on to theSouthern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948.When Sectorisation was introduced in the 1980s, the station was served by
Network SouthEast until thePrivatisation of British Rail ways.Anerley will form part of the new southbound route of the
East London Line that is due to open in 2010, and will form part of theLondon Overground .Services
The typical off-peak service is two trains per hour northbound to
London Bridge and two trains per hour southbound to Sutton. At Pek times some trains to Sutton are extended to Guildford & Dorking trains to Caterham also stop here.
