railway station on theNorth London Line , between South Acton and Willesden Junction, inTravelcard Zone 3 .History
The station opened as Acton by the
North and South Western Junction Railway , but was renamed Acton Central on 1 November 1925. After merging into theLondon and North Western Railway , it became part of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to theLondon Midland Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948.When Sectorisation was introduced, the station was served by
Network SouthEast until thePrivatisation of British Rail ways.Between 1875 and 1902 it was connected with
St Pancras via theDudding Hill Line , which branches off theNorth London Line between Acton Central andWillesden Junction .Harlesden (Midland) railway station was the next stop on the line north. TheDudding Hill Line is still open today, but only carries freight.Acton Central was in Zone 2 until
2 January 2008 .ervice
There is a regular service westbound to Richmond and eastbound towards Stratford on the
