It is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia statistical region.
The parish church in Dol is dedicated to the Saint Margaret (Slovene: Sveta Marjeta) and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. It was originally a Gothic church that was restyled in the Baroque in the 18th century.[2]
