Kanal ob Soči ( _it. Canale d'Isonzo) is a
town and municipality inSlovenia , established in 1995 bysecession fromNova Gorica .The town itself is an important crossing point over the
River Soča. The first bridge was build by the Romans. The current bridge was built afterWorld War I . The center of the town was fortified in theMiddle Ages . There are four towers left calledbastion s. There is also a beautiful fountain called "Neptunov vodnjak" in the center by the church. The church "Marijino vnebovzetje" was built in 1430.Famous natives
