Rečica ob Savinji

Rečica ob Savinji is a town and a municipality in Slovenia.

Rečica pri Savinji

Until the year 1942 Rečica pri Savinji was in the administrative territory of Gornji Grad, established by the Patriarchate of Aquileia. Afterward it was taken over by the communist regime and Rečica was annexed to the municipalities of Mozirje and Sostanj. Gornji Grad has been deprived of all functions. In Slovenia, Mozirje is the “okupaciska obcina”, which was under control of the judge of Sostanj Miran Topolovec. His duty was to dismantle the administration of Oberburg (Gornji Grad) and transfer all land documentation to Mozirje and Sostanj. It is important to put the name Rečica pri Savinji in the municipality of Oberburg, because, until it was transferred to Mozirje and Sostanj, Rečica was part of Gornji Grad. This information is not shown by the author in the article of Gornji Grad. In Rečica pri Savinji lived until 1942 the Mayor of Gornji Grad: Franc Ježovnik.

7.6.1942 - In Rečica pri Savinji (Slovenia) was shot to death the last mayor of Gornji Grad Franc Ježovnik. He was born on 27.10.1888 in Unter Schalleck - Smartno o Paki/Velenje. Later he lived in Stara Vas (Altdorf) No. 19. He was married to Cecilia Delacorda.

With the murder of mayor "Franc Ježovnik" of Gornji Grad the communists disrupted the history which was present in Slovenia for many centuries. The ownership of land came to an end and has been nationalized.

Stara Vas or Altdorf in Velenje has been named after Altdorf in Bavaria, and after “Heinrich mit dem goldenem Wagen, Graf von Altdorf”. He was a follower of Arnulf of Carinthia. It is important to know that Heinrich has been active in the territory of Vinschgau – Meran or Andechs-Meran. Vinschgau is the land of Erich, Markgraf of Friuli.
