North East Delhi is bounded by the Yamuna River on the west, Ghaziabad District of Uttar Pradesh state to the north and east, East Delhi to the south, and North Delhi to the west across the Yamuna.
North East Delhi has an total area of 60 km².

Demographics
According to the 2011 census North East Delhi has a population of 2,240,749 ,[1] roughly equal to the nation of Latvia[2] or the US state of New Mexico.[3] This gives it a ranking of 202nd in India (out of a total of 640).[1] The district has a population density of 37,346 inhabitants per square kilometre (96,730 /sq mi) .[1] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 26.73 %.[1] North East Delhi has a sex ratio of 886 females for every 1000 males,[1] and a literacy rate of 82.8 %.[1]
The Majority of population follow hinduism. But it also have very large Muslim and jain poulation, many christians and few bahai followers also live here. Hindustani language is the principal spoken language while English is the principal written language of the city. Other languages commonly spoken in the area are dialects of Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

North East delhi is a middle class residential area. Majority of the population is indulge in self-businesses, the area comprise some of the major markets of delhi, like Chota Bajar,Rohtas Nagar,Bhajanpura,etc. Since few years the area witness rapid economic growth. Many government schemes have been planted here within short time period.
