Cahuilla — Unincorporated community — Location in California Coordinates: 33°32′27″N 116°44′38″W / 33.54083°N 116.74389°WCoordinates: 33°32′27″N 116°44′38″W / 33.54083°N 116.74389°W Country United States State California County Riverside County Elevation[1] 1,110 m (3,642 ft) Cahuilla (formerly, Coahuilla, Cohuilla, Coahuila, and Kawia)[2] is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, California.[1] It lies at an elevation of 3642 feet (1110 m).[1] Cahuilla is located 14 miles (22.5 km) south of Idylwild.[2]
The Cahuilla post office opened in 1888, moved in 1889 and 1895, closed in 1903, reopened in 1909, closed for a time in 1919, closed again in 1921, reopened in 1924 before closing for good in 1926.[2]
