Origins

Another name for the wealthiest street in town is an Alpha Street. Millionaires' Rows are often found in neighborhoods by the name of the Gold Coast. There is the Gold Coast of Long Island, Boston's Gold Coast, and Chicago's Gold Coast to name a few.

Millionaires' Miles are characterized by the presence of great houses in varying architectural styles, depending on the location these may be mansions, townhouses, esoteric modern creations or other imposing designs.

It can apply to other places associated with wealth. For example, the expensive box seats at Churchill Downs are widely known as Millionaire's Row, especially on Kentucky Derby day.

American locales

Some well-known Millionaires' Miles include the following:

Boca Raton, United States

Millionaires' Mile in Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Florida, also known as America's "Billionaires Playground,"[1] is home to the greatest wealth in North America. Family residences in this area begin in the low millions and are priced as high as the tens of millions,[2] with barren 0.25-acre (1,000 m2) lots of land being purchased in excess of several million-dollars.[3]

Beyond the housing market, Boca Raton's Millionaires’ Mile is also home to the Boca Raton Resort, a lake and beach resort considered the most exclusive country club in the world.[4] Its town square, Mizner Park, houses primarily five-star restaurants, and boutiques trafficking in the finest clothing, furniture, electronics, and art obtainable within the United States.[5] On any given day in Mizner Park, one will see performances by celebrated musicians such as Jewel, Harry Connick, Jr., Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Ringo Starr, and Billy Idol.[6]

Bordering Boca's Millionaires Mile to the East is the Atlantic Ocean, it's centered around Lake Boca, and to its West boundary are two of Florida's three towns which possess sufficient wealth to warrant complete privacy from uninvited parties. Boca Pointe and Boca Del Mar are technically "gated towns,"[7][8] or census-designated unincorporated areas. Boca Pointe and Boca Del Mar maintain a private security force and private grounds keepers to ensure that the only people permitted entrance are residents, approved guests, and their servants.[9] With world-class dining and recreational facilities, the rich and famous are able to socialize within their town without any level of exposure to the general populace.[10]

Rounding out Boca's Millionaires' Mile Western Border is the Town Center Mall. Home to anchoring Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue, surrounded by world-class boutiques,[11] Town Center Mall was named America's "Perfect 10" mall for the wealthy.[12]
