Overview
Starting the tour on January 22, 1979 in Bremen shortly after releasing the platinum-certified Destiny album the previous December. The tour performed in three continents including a tour in Kenya and several headlining tours in Great Britain before taking on an 80-city tour in the United States, before ending the tour in Washington, D.C. near the end of the year. The first leg of the tour saw the Jacksons doing moderate sized arenas. While on tour Michael released his multi-platinum album Off the Wall, forcing the brothers to revamp their show and to start playing higher profile arenas/stadiums. As example originally on the first leg the Jacksons played the Valley Forge Music Fair in Philadelphia to an audience of 3,000 compared to the second leg later in the year when they played the Philadelphia Spectrum which seats 16,000. They changed drummers and added a horn section, also they designed a brand new stage which featured a huge hanging light fixture that said, "The Jacksons". During "Ben", Michael would now be moved across the stage on a floating platform with lights. Lastly, a new setlist was created and additional songs from the Jacksons Destiny album were added ([Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)]) and songs from Michael's blockbuster album Off the Wall. The opening act in the Second Leg was LTD. The entire Destiny tour (First and Second leg) grossed an estimated 7.5 million dollars.

- The London concert was filmed by BBC and leaked on the Internet. It is in High Quality of sound and video.
- The full video of the New Orleans concert was leaked on YouTube for nearly two weeks, but the user removed almost all the songs. The video was in Standart Quality and the audio is in High Quality (now it's leaked on the Internet).
- They performed songs like "I Wanna Be Where You Are" & "Get It Together" in New Orleans. Later those songs were taken out.
- A live version of "Off the Wall" was released as a promo video in 1979. The same footage was used in 2007, however the live music was removed and the video was overdubbed with the album version of "Off the Wall" and album version of The Jacksons Live!, as alternate version.
- Another live performance of "Off the Wall" was used as a promo video in 1979, however the album version of "Off the Wall" was used and overdubbed over the concert footage until the final few seconds. Pictures from this particular concert are in the Michael Jackson book titled, "Before He Was King".
- Part of a Destiny Tour concert was filmed at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale on November 8, 1979 and was used in the 20/20 profile of Michael Jackson.
- There's a possibility that The Jacksons performed "Get It Together" at the Nassau Coliseum. While "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" was on there was a snippet of video of them doing the moves that they usually do in Get It Together with no audio of that song with a different outfit. The one that they wore most of the show.
