Moschiola Scientific classification Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Artiodactyla Family: Tragulidae Genus: Moschiola Moschiola is a genus of small even-toed ungulates in the Tragulidae family. They are found in forests in India, Sri Lanka and perhaps Nepal, and have pale-spotted or -striped upperparts unlike the other Asian members of the family, the mouse-deer of the genus Tragulus.[1]
Traditionally only a single species was recognized in the genus Moschiola, but in 2005 it was split into three separate species:[2]
- Indian Spotted Chevrotain (Moschiola indica)
- Sri Lankan Spotted Chevrotain (Moschiola meminna)
- Yellow-striped Chevrotain (Moschiola kathygre)
