Moore County is part of the Tullahoma, Tennessee, Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 130 square miles (340 km2), of which 129 square miles (330 km2) is land and 1-square-mile (2.6 km2) (0.93%) is water.

Demographics
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 5,740 people, 2,211 households, and 1,686 families residing in the county. The population density was 44 people per square mile (17/km²). There were 2,515 housing units at an average density of 20 per square mile (8/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.84% White, 2.72% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.51% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 2,211 households out of which 30.70% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.10% were married couples living together, 7.60% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.70% were non-families. 21.40% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.10% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the county, the population was spread out with 23.30% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 26.30% from 45 to 64, and 15.50% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 98.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.80 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $36,591, and the median income for a family was $41,484. Males had a median income of $31,559 versus $20,987 for females. The per capita income for the county was $19,040. 9.60% of the population and 7.80% of families were below the poverty line. 11.70% are under the age of 18 and 12.10% are 65 or older.
Economy
Moore County is the location of the Jack Daniel's distillery, whose famous Tennessee whiskey is marketed world-wide. Despite the operational distillery, the county is a dry county. This status dates from the time of prohibition and can be repealed only if at least 1000 resident voters sign an appropriate petition.[citation needed]
