Muragachha (Bengali: মুড়াগাছা) is a census town under Ghola police station of Barrackpore subdivision.[1]in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Muragachha is located at 22°41′N 88°25′E / 22.69°N 88.42°E / 22.69; 88.42[2]. It has an average elevation of 11 m (36 ft).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[3], Muragachha had a population of 9790. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Muragachha has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 68%. In Muragachha, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination. [4]
