- East Durham Link
-
The East Durham Link is a planned freeway in the Regional Municipality of Durham in southcentral Ontario, which will connect Highway 401 with the eastern extension of Highway 407. The freeway, which is one of two as-of-yet unnumbered connectors for the 407 extension, will be located entirely within Clarington near Durham Regional Road 34 (Courtice Road).

Future
The East Durham Link is one of two proposed freeways to connect the future east extension of Highway 407 with Highway 401; the West Durham Link, to be located to the west in Whitby, is the second. The links first appeared on the June 2007 Technically Recommended Route, which was submitted as part of the environmental assessment (EA) for the extension, but had been announced earlier that year on March 7 by the Government of Canada, as part of an investment in Greater Toronto Area infrastructure.[1]
The EA report was released on August 17, 2009, including detailed plans for the configuration of the interchanges along the new freeway.[2] On June 9, 2010, it was announced that the Highway 407 extension would be completed in phases, with the West Durham Link being fully constructed, and the mainline being extended as far as Simcoe Street in Oshawa. Because of this, the East Durham Link may not have contracts tendered for its construction for several years.[citation needed]
