- Hanlon Parkway
The Hanlon Parkway is a high-capacity at-grade suburban
expressway in the city of Guelph,Ontario ,Canada , which connects it with Highway 401. It runs in a general north-south direction in the city's west end. It is signed as Highway 6 for its whole length; from Wellington Street to Woodlawn Road, it is multiplexed with Highway 7. It is 17 km (10.5 miles) long. The speed limit alternates between 70 and 80 km/h (45 and 50 mph), although the flow is generally faster especially in the more rural sections.Though the road was originally designed as a
freeway , budget limitations precluded the construction ofoverpass es; apart from the interchanges with the 401 and with Wellington Street West (Highways 7 and 24), all junctions are signalizedat-grade intersection s. There are also two railway crossings near the northern terminus, though both are for spur lines. The Hanlon is graded and landscaped similarly to a freeway, with broad flat shoulders and an open median. The
government of Ontario has plans to build a new Highway 7 freeway bypass joining the current northern terminus of the Hanlon Parkway to theConestoga Parkway in Kitchener; if the project goes ahead, it is likely that the Hanlon will be upgraded to a freeway for its full length.List of intersections
