Malkajgiri is a suburban locality in the city of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, in India. It is located in Ranga Reddy district, but comes under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. With a population of more than 150,000 people, Malkajgiri is itself a mini-town with many shopping arcades, community centers, etc. It is also one of the most populated mandals in Ranga Reddy district.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Malkajgiri had a population of 175,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Malkajgiri has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 65%. In Malkajgiri, 7% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Commercial area
One of the oldest factories in the area is Shaw Wallace Distilleries Limited, which in 2007 merged with the United Spirits, a part of UB group.
The shops in Malkajgiri cater to all needs of the locals. Sawansaboo Travel Agent in IRCTC internet booking. Sri Sai Textiles and Anutex are the oldest textile showrooms. Among other well-known retailers here are Hero Moto Corp, Bombay Dyeing, Reebok Factory Outlet, and Bata. Its supermarkets include Reliance Fresh and Reliance Delight, More, Taruni, Magna, Ushodaya, Heritage Fresh and Tulsi food Bazaar. Electronic retail stores include Next Retail, Hotspot, the Mobile store,Big C,Univercell mobile store, Sangeeta mobile store, Reliance web world, Vodafone, Shah Electronics, PCH zone, Classic Polo. Vaikuntam is a big store in old Malkajgiri.

All major Indian banks have branches and ATMs in Malkajgiri.
Education
Malkajgiri has several good quality schools, including Gautami High School, Bhasyam Public School, Podar Jumbo Kids, Siddhardha convent high school, Bhega's High School, Durga Bhavani High School a.k.a DBHS, Balaji High School, DAV Public School, St. Martin High School, St. Ann's Grammar School, Anand Bagh High School, etc., within the proximity making it an ideal place for kids' education. Takshasila Public School was the first of many CBSE schools in this area. Zilla Parishad High School(ZPHS) is the only Govt School present in Malkajgiri. In addition, the intermediate (junior college or +2) education requirements are met by two of the most popular colleges such as Sri Chaitanya, Narayana junior colleges,St.Ann's junior cum degree college for Women are located in this area.In Neredmet there is also a famous institution of Bhavan's with school, junior college, degree college, with all the facilities like lab, sports, etc.
Cinema halls
Sri Sai Ram and Raghavendra are the two main Cinema Halls in Malkajgiri. Sri Sai Ram,Raghavendra Cine complex has a 35mm as well as a 70mm screen and a New Mini Deluxe screen has been launched with Aarya2. Recently, Talluri Theatre (at ECIL) has started its operations with 2 screens.
Culture
Malkajgiri also has quite a few wonderful temples that one can visit, namely, the Shirdi Sai Baba temple near railway station,Lord venkateswara temple along with godesses Sridevi & Bhoodevi at Sattireddy colony.Vijaya Vinayaka temple in Vani Nagar, the Lord Rama temple in Prem Vijay Nagar Colony, the Raghavendra Swamy mutt in Venkateshwara Nagar,Hanuman and santhoshimata temple at old malkajgiri, Mallanna temple in Mallikarjun nagar and the Ganapathi and Panchamukha Anjaneya temples in Vasanthapuri Colony.
Malkajgiri also witnesses a grand scale celebration of festivals like Mahankali Jatara (Bonalu), Ganesha Chaturthi and Dussehra wherein the whole area is decorated with colourful pandals during the festival days.
Divine Grace Lutheran Church near ECIL X roads. At Christmas time, carols singing and skits will be played and be celebrated with great joy.
Transport
Malkajgiri is well-connected with other parts of the city by road as well as rail. Malkajgiri Railway Station will be converted into a major junction[2] thereby connecting it to most of places by rail route.
The principal intra-city bus routes through this area are 16A (Secunderabad to ECIL X Roads), 16C (Secunderabad - ECIL X Roads), 16H/10H (ECIL X Roads to Kondapur).
Proximity to transport
Malkajgiri is less than 10 mins drive from Secunderabad Railway Station. It is also just 3 km away from Mettuguda junction where the road leading to Uppal and the new[when?] International Airport is being expanded into eight lanes.
Neighbourhoods
SAFILGUDA is one of the bustling residential town in Malkajgiri. The most prominent landmark being "The Mini Tank Bund". A beautiful water storage tank with a well built boundary is a major attraction. It also has a famous temple "Kata Maisamma", attracting thousands of piligrims. Other places of interest include Safilguda railway station, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple (Balram nagar), and Shiva Temple (Seetaramnagar). The town is adjacent to the Army Ordinance Center with open land, making it a perfect location for giving respite from the bustling concrete jungle of the east. There is considerable population of Christian faith with several churches.
Anandbagh is a locality in Malkajgiri, a suburb of Hyderabad. It is a predominantly residential area with many commercial establishments coming up. Anandbagh is located in the North-Eastern part of Hyderabad and is a thickly populated area. Simhadri Nagar Colony, East Chandragiri Colony are considered to be the high end area.
Anandbagh area is divided into two - Anandbagh East and Anandbagh West. The area is one of the fastest developing areas of Hyderabad with the land prices having touched around 25,000 per square yard from just around 2,000 per sq yd ten years ago. There are a number of commercial establishments being set up here like the recently opened Reliance Fresh outlet in East Anandbagh, stores like More, banks, jewellery shops and so on.
The area is well connected to other parts of the city with a number of city buses plying in this route. (APSRTC bus routes from Secunderabad Bus Station : 16A,16c,16a/k, 16E, 16H,38A, 38x, 38ex, 10s, to name a few.) A couple of landmarks in and around Anandbagh are the Lord Venkateshwar temple(at Anandbagh X-Roads) and the Safilguda lake - popularly called as Mini Tankband beyond which is the Krupa complex. D.A.V Public School, Safilguda which is considered to be one of the best schools in Hyderabad is situated near this locality.
