It was established in 1730. Franklin Pierce, fourteenth president of the United States, is buried in the cemetery, as is his wife Jane, and 2 of his 3 sons. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 9, 2008.[2][1]
It is the 20th property listed as a featured property of the week in a program of the National Park Service that began in July, 2008.[1][3]
