It includes the Norwalk Green, a common area until 1851, and the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and another church that face on the green.
However it does not include the historic commercial center of Norwalk.[2]:2
The district includes 54 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, and 1 other contributing objects.[1]
The district "is a significant collection" of 18th and 19th century architecture.[2]:11
The district is an irregular shape, drawn to include historic properties in the vicinity of the Norwalk Green, and to exclude non-historic properties.[2]:17
