History
President Benjamin Harrison was born in North Bend. His grandfather, President William Henry Harrison is buried in the William Henry Harrison Tomb State Memorial in North Bend. John Scott Harrison is the only man in U.S. history to be the son of a president and the father of a president. He was born in North Bend and is buried in his father's vault in North Bend.
Former NFL player Dana Stubblefield attended Taylor High School in North Bend.
Geography
North Bend is located at 39°8′59″N 84°44′45″W / 39.14972°N 84.74583°W (39.149658, -84.745828)[3].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), of which, 1.1 square miles (2.8 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (7.69%) is water.
Demographics
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 603 people, 253 households, and 182 families residing in the village. The population density was 560.3 people per square mile (215.6/km²). There were 290 housing units at an average density of 269.5 per square mile (103.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.83% White and 0.17% African American.
There were 253 households out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% were non-families. 24.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.80.
In the village the population was spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 31.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $51,979, and the median income for a family was $60,833. Males had a median income of $45,000 versus $26,563 for females. The per capita income for the village was $28,792. About 4.9% of families and 6.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.1% of those under age 18 and 4.5% of those age 65 or over.
