Located in the northeastern corner of the county, the township has been cut into two "islands" due to annexations by surrounding cities. They have the following borders:
The cities of Indian Hill, Loveland, and Montgomery have annexed large portions of Symmes Township, especially Indian Hill. Part of the
census-designated place of Loveland Park and the unincorporated community of Camp Dennison lie in the northwestern and southern parts of the township respectively.Name

1994 , dozens of people witnessed what was initially thought to be anadvertising balloon, though Hamilton County has no record of a permit for an advertising balloon that day. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following
January 1 . Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning onApril 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.Police and fire protection in Symmes Township are the responsibility of the Hamilton County Sheriff and the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department respectively.
