Newport Television, LLC Type Private Industry Media Founded 2007 Founder(s) Providence Equity Partners and Sandy DiPasquale Headquarters Kansas City, Missouri Key people Sandy DiPasquale (president, CEO) Services Television Owner(s) Providence Equity Partners Divisions Inergize Digital Media Website http://www.newporttv.com/ Newport Television, LLC is a television station holding company founded by Providence Equity Partners and Sandy DiPasquale in 2007 to acquire the television stations owned by Clear Channel Communications.[1] In September 2007, Newport agreed to sell KFTY and KVOS-TV to LK Station Group LLC for $26.6 million.[2] The deal was set be completed in March 2008 but has since been stalled due to LK's lender refusing to provide the funding.[3] As of October 10, 2007, Newport has agreed to sell KION-TV, KMUV-LP, K44DN, KKFX-CA, KCOY-TV to Cowles Publishing Company for $41 million.[4] Newport's purchase of the Clear Channel stations and those being resold were granted conditional Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval, subject to divestitures of media properties owned by other affiliates of Providence Equity Partners in several other markets.[5] The entire deal closed on March 14, 2008 after several stations, in addition to those being divested by Newport, were placed into trust companies.[6]

Variety Television Network
Variety Television Network (or VTV) was a network of Newport Television stations that broadcast, on secondary digital channels, a similar programming schedule with some local programming. The network broadcast classic TV shows, auto showcase programming, and various home improvement programs.[7] VTV was shut down in January 2009.

- 1 WLYH-TV is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group; however, it is operated by WHP-TV under a local marketing agreement (LMA).
- 2 KMTW is owned by Mercury Broadcasting Company; however, it is operated by KSAS-TV under an LMA.
- 3 The licenses and other FCC assets of these stations are owned by High Plains Broadcasting, Inc. due to Federal Communications Commission rules on cross-ownership and duopolies; however, Newport Television continues to operate these stations under a shared services agreement (SSA).
