The channels offer local news 24-hours a day and reach approximately 3.8 million television households in the tri-state area. Originally created and owned by Cablevision the networks are carried by all Cablevision systems in the region as well as other major cable companies serving the tri-state area. However, they are not available to DBS or Verizon FiOS subscribers (hence, the slogan is "Only on cable. Never on FiOS. Never on satellite."). Although the regions have individual and unique news operations, the network shares similar graphics and music as well as mission. In addition, if one is a Cablevision subscriber or a cable customer who receives News 12, they can view any region's live feed on News 12's website or mobile service.

News 12 Long Island
News 12 Long Island, based in Woodbury, New York, reaches only those who have Cablevision in Nassau and Suffolk counties. News 12 Long Island was the first station in the network and first channel of its kind, launching on December 15, 1986.
News 12 New Jersey
News 12 New Jersey is the largest of the News 12 channels, reaching nearly 1.8 million households. The channel was launched in 1996. News 12 New Jersey has its central studio-office complex in Edison and regional newsrooms in Newark, Trenton, Madison, Oakland and Wall Township. This station is known for its famous Friday Night Football program and during the state playoffs Friday & Saturday Night Football.
News 12 Connecticut
News 12 Connecticut is based in Norwalk, Connecticut and reaches more than 220,000 Cablevision subscribers in Fairfield County, Connecticut, as well as the towns of Milford, Woodbridge, and Orange in New Haven County, Connecticut. Premiering in 1982, News 12 Connecticut was the nation's first all-news local channel with Jim Bunn and Gwen Scott as news anchors, Bill Liggins as sports anchor, and Jim Smith on weather. In early 2011, News 12 premiered a new logo, infobar, and graphics.
News 12 Westchester
News 12 Westchester, based in Yonkers, reaches more than 280,000 homes through the Cablevision, Time Warner Cable of Mt. Vernon (channel 20), and Comcast of Putnum (channel 112) cable systems. On December 20th, 2010, News 12 premiered a new logo, infobar, graphics (including new news intro), and music. On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, News 12 Westchester along with Hudson Valley became the third and fourth of the News 12 Networks (behind NJ and LI) to switch to high definition.
News 12 Hudson Valley
News 12 Hudson Valley, based in West Nyack, New York launched in 2005 and reaches more than 140,000 homes through the Cablevision and Time Warner Cable (channel 156) systems serving Rockland and Orange counties. On December 20th, 2010, News 12 premiered a new logo, infobar, graphics (including new news intro), and music. On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, News 12 Hudson Valley along with Westchester became the third and fourth of the News 12 Networks (behind NJ and LI) to switch to high definition.

News 12 The Bronx, launched in June 1998 and reaches more than 300,000 homes in the Bronx borough of New York City. News 12 The Bronx was the first television news organization in the country to use environmentally friendly hybrid gas/electric-powered vehicles in an effort to reduce air pollution. News 12 The Bronx shares its on-air talent and studio with News 12 Brooklyn. On June 2nd 2010, News 12 The Bronx premiered a new set that and on December 17th, 2010, News 12 premiered a new logo, infobar, graphics (including new news intro), and music.

News 12 Brooklyn launched in 2005 and reaches more than 490,000 homes on the Cablevision and Time Warner (channel 156) cable systems. It shares its studio and on air talent with News 12 The Bronx. News 12 Interactive, based in Woodbury, New York, manages the website news12.com and the iO Digital Cable Channel 612 offering ] news, weather, traffic and extra interactive features provided on Cablevision's digital platform. News 12 Interactive also operates the InfoBar, a rolling display with time, temperature, weather conditions and news items in the lower portion of the screen during virtually all of the programming of the seven News 12 channels (except News 12 Traffic and Weather).
