Iodoquinol is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is amebicidal at the site of infection.[2] It acts by chelating ferrous ions essential for metabolism.[3]
In the United States this medicine is sold under the names Diquinol, Yodoquinol, and Yodoxin.[4] Yodoxin is available in 210- and 650-mg oral tablet form.[5]
Susceptibility of Dientamoeba fragilis has been measured.[6]
