Ceruminous glands

Ceruminous glands are specialized sudoriferous glands (sweat glands) located subcutaneously in the external auditory canal. They produce cerumen or earwax which lubricates and cleans the auditory canal, and serves as a barrier to trap foreign particles (dust, bacteria, fungal spores, etc.)
