Its principal is Brett Lemley. Assistant principals are Genny Horton and Klaus Oglesby. The school's first principal was Ross E. McGlothlin. When CLIS opened in 1973, it became the fourth intermediate school in CCISD.

Clear Lake has a program called Omega for its Gifted and Talented program which includes Omega-level coarses in Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
