The station is unstaffed and is a flag stop, however it is located near a 1920-built former Illinois Central Railroad depot that's listed both on the National Register of Historic Places since March 25, 1993 as Newbern Illinois Central Depot,[2] and by the Tennessee Historic Commission as a historic landmark.[3]
Of the two Tennessee stations served by Amtrak, Newbern-Dyersburg was the second-busiest in FY2010, boarding or detraining an average of approximately 10 passengers daily.[4]
