Geography
Deisswil bei Münchenbuchsee has an area, as of 2009[update], of 2.15 km2 (0.83 sq mi). Of this area, 1.29 km2 (0.50 sq mi) or 60.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.54 km2 (0.21 sq mi) or 25.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.3 km2 (0.12 sq mi) or 14.0% is settled (buildings or roads).[3]
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.6%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 5.6% of the area 24.2% of the total land area is heavily forested. Of the agricultural land, 46.0% is used for growing crops and 13.0% is pastures.[3]
Deisswil bei Münchenbuchsee is a Straßendorf (a village that lies almost entirely along a single road) with a few individual farms located on the north west of Moos Lake. It belongs to the parish and the greater community (Gemeindeverband) of Münchenbuchsee.
Demographics
Deisswil bei Münchenbuchsee has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 96.[1] As of 2007[update], 2.2% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 6.9%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (98.9%), with Serbo-Croatian being second most common ( 1.1%) and being third (none%).
In the election the most popular party was the SVP which received 70.9% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (13.5%), the local small right-wing parties (2.5%) and the Green Party (2%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 26.4% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 59.8% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 13.8%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Deisswil bei Münchenbuchsee about 29.8% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
