Chopan is a town and a nagar panchayat in Sonbhadra district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Geography

Chopan is located at 24°31′N 83°02′E / 24.52°N 83.03°E / 24.52; 83.03.[1] It has an average elevation of 159 metres (521 feet).

Very small place,but there are lots of greenery and having natural beauty. It is well connected to Varanasi and Allahabad through road and to Delhi, Jammu-Tawi, Patna, Bhopal and Jabalpur through rail.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Chopan had a population of 12,131. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Chopan has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 77% and female literacy of 59%. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
