Located off Main Street, the factory was built in 1844 by Zenas Crane and is "the oldest paper manufactory...in continuous operation at one site."[2] The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.[1]
History
Since 1879, the Crane Paper Company has had the exclusive government contract to manufacture the paper used in the currency of the United States.[3]
