Please note: methodology may vary year on year. Chilham railway station serves the area around the village of Chilham in Kent, including Chilham itself, Shottenden, Old Wives Lees, Selling and Bagham. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Southeastern.
The station was opened by the South Eastern Railway (SER) on 1 December 1846, and is on the SER Ashford to Margate line. The platforms are connected by a concrete footbridge - a typical product of the Southern Railway concrete factory at Exmouth Junction. There are level crossings near both ends of the station.
The station is unmanned. A PERTIS passenger-operated ticket machine, issuing 'Permits to Travel' - which are exchanged on-train or at manned stations for travel tickets - is located just inside the entrance to the Canterbury-bound platform from the car park.
Services
As of May 2011[update] the current typical off peak services from this station is one train per hour to London Charing Cross via Tonbridge and one train to Canterbury West.[1]
