Ramsgate railway station serves the town of Ramsgate in Thanet in Kent, England. The station lies on the Chatham Main Line 127 km (79¼ miles) east of London Victoria, Kent Coast Line and the Ashford to Ramsgate (via Canterbury West) line. Train services are provided by Southeastern.

Architecture

Ramsgate railway station is "possibly the finest New Classical railway station in southern England" [http://historic-railway-buildings.fotopic.net/c472930.html] . It was built between 1924-1926 by Edwin Fry and is a Grade II listed building.

Services

Trains from the station run to London Charing Cross and London Victoria.

There are two trains per hour from Charing Cross. The train splits at Ashford International and one service goes via Dover Priory and Folkestone Central whilst the other goes via Canterbury West.

There is a half-hourly service from Victoria via Faversham and Margate.

During peak-time the station has an abundance of trains. Compared to many other stations in Kent, trains to Charing Cross finish fairly early, but also start early because of its distance.
