The North East Australian Football League is an Australian rules football league in New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory in Australia. It was formed in November 2010[1] from an amalgamation of the two major football leagues in that area of Australia: the Queensland Australian Football League in South-East Queensland and the Northern Territory, and AFL Canberra in New South Wales and the ACT.

The league's inaugural season featured reserve teams from the Brisbane Lions, the Gold Coast Suns and the Sydney Swans, all of whom compete in the AFL. Greater Western Sydney, who are to begin competition in the AFL in 2012, will play in the NEAFL in 2011. Teams from the former QAFL compete in the Northern Conference of the league, as well as the Brisbane and Gold Coast reserves teams, and teams from the former AFL Canberra compete in the Eastern Conference, as well as the Greater Western Sydney and the Sydney reserves teams.

Teams compete for conference premierships, with the two premier teams in each conference playing off in the NEAFL Grand Final.
